I was looking through old family photos recently (see above) and it got me thinking about siblings and how lucky I am to be able to capture the relationships of so many siblings through photographs.  These above photos of me with my older siblings are some that I will cherish forever and I hope the brothers and sisters that I photograph will look back on their images and feel the same way. My sister is pregnant with her 2nd child and 2nd son and I can not wait to be able to document my nephew and his new little brother as they create childhood memories together. What are some of your favorite memories of your siblings?

This adorable little guy belongs to a very good friend of mine. She and I met when we spent 5 weeks in Italy together during a study abroad program in 2003 and have been close every since. They live in Colorado now but are here visiting family for the summer.  Her husband is currently serving our country in Afghanistan and will be gone for a year. I am so happy that he will be able to see these photos and catch a little glimpse of a growing Grayson from so far away.

I took these photos during a lovely 2 day visit with friends in LA at the end of May filled with lots of laughs, festivals (complete with “homemade” corn dogs that I would later realize were actually Foster Farms.) and photo opportunities. I am embarrassed by how long it took me to blog these images. These were taken during my last visit with my friend, Leah Zawadzki and her gorgeous family back in mid-April. The first one of Joe is now one of my all-time favorite images. As a lot of you know, I have struggled a lot with the D700 and when I took that shot and looked at the raw file it was almost perfect. I barely had to do any editing to it and I was so stoked – it felt like a turning point for me. I had gotten so comfortable with my Canon and was waiting for the time when I felt that way about the Nikon…I think I am finally there, or much closer at least.

I’m headed back for another few days with them at the end of the month so stay tuned for photos from that visit (hopefully it won’t take me quite as long to blog them)! Thanks for looking!!!

These adorable little girls are actually my nephew, Gavin’s, first cousins (on his dad’s side). Since I had never met them, I decided to take a day trip to Laguna Beach during my last CA trip in April for some fun and photographing. I think we were able to capture some really great shots from our day.  Hope you guys enjoy them and I really hope I see you on my next trip!! xo
