The Happy Traveler | After dinner entertainment.

I’m out in California for a couple of weeks and just had  a weekend visit with my dear friend Leah and her awesome family.  On my first night there we went out to dinner at an amazing restaurant called Gabbi’s in downtown Orange. Seriously the best shrimp enchiladas and margaritas EVER! But I digress…

After our yummy meal we popped in to the army/navy store where twins, Kate and Joe, saw the hats and sunglasses they just HAD to have! They were feeling super cool so naturally I had to stop them and take a few photos along with their big brother,Ben. I just love these guys — such characters!

Stay tuned for more from my visit with them. :)

Travel Session – San Diego Children’s Photographer | Model Three

3 kids. 3 outfit changes. 1 hour. This session was quick and crazy but oh SO much fun! These 3 siblings are just as sweet and charming as they are gorgeous. We also captured some adorable shots of all of them together but we are keeping those under wraps until after holiday card time. :)

Thanks for coming out to play “S” kids. Can’t wait until next time!

The Happy Traveler | Embracing the calm before the storm

My nearly two weeks in Tampa was filled with a lot of rainy days. This past Friday evening with the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac looming, Deb and I took the kids out for a little photo shoot down at the bay. I had planned on taking photos ON the beach so as soon as the kids jumped in the water I automatically put my camera down and assumed I was finished shooting. Deb, while in the water with her camera fully submerged and protected in its underwater housing, looked at me and said “What are you doing? Get your camera!” Since the conditions were just right, calm waters, photographers kids trained to understand what a sin splashing your camera truly is… I forged into the water (only about knee deep mind you because well, you know, sharks). :) I am SO glad I did because just look at what I got!  The light was absolutely beautiful as you can see my models were absolutely stunning as well.  Every time I visit with this family I am amazed at how beautiful each and every one of them is, inside and out.

Also, keep visiting Deb’s blog for a post with her images from this day. I think it is really fun to see how differently 2 people can see the same thing. It just shows that everyone has their own perfectly unique view of the world. :)

Thank you again Schwedhelm’s. I love you guys oh so much and can’t wait until the next visit!!

The Happy Traveler | Beautiful Everyday Life

I have been busy at work trying to put together my new website. While searching for images to place in the galleries, I ran across my folder with all of my photographs from Australia and New Zealand. I got completely lost in the memories that those images brought back to me. That is why I just love photography, you don’t realize how much you forget as time passes. Browsing through images from my trip takes me right back there to that place and with those people that I love. I also realized that I never finished blogging the Aus/NZ images so I am starting it up again where I left off.

These images were taken on a typical day in my friend’s household. We took the twins to their kindy orientation (kindy is their word for pre-school) and then out for a little treat (a babyccino) afterwards. Such a beautiful, normal day that I never ever want to forget.

San Diego Child Photographer | Hayden + Maddox

I photographed these two gorgeous sisters during my recent trip to CA. I do not think Hayden and Maddox could look any more different but both be any more beautiful. I mean seriously. They have just gotten into modeling and I think they have a bright future ahead of them! Good luck girlies!!

Atlanta Child Photographer | Brothers

Over memorial day weekend, my mom and I kept my 2 nephews while my sister and her husband took a trip to the Bahamas to celebrate their 9th wedding anniversary. (I know, I know. I’m the best sister ever. haha) I had gotten it into my head that on Monday evening I was going to take both of the boys out and get a photo of them as a surprise for their mommy and daddy. So, I did all of the necessary work to prepare Gavin (the 4 year old) and get him totally on board for what was going to occur that evening. We decided we would take a picnic and eat an early dinner at the park, take some photos, and if he was a good boy he would get to play for a bit. We pack everything up, get in the car and start on our way when low and behold…rain. Oh yes, rain. I was so disappointed. We went to the park anyway and had our picnic under a little pavilion. The rain got lighter and lighter and the sun came out more and more. Gavin looked me and said “G!!!! It stopped raining! I can play at the park now!” and I said ” Yes! And guess what else? I can take some pictures!” To which he replied, “um. I think I hear a storm coming.” HAHA. That guy, I swear. Always making us laugh.

Well, there wasn’t a storm coming and the boys were sweet and cooperative. Below are the images captured in the 10 minutes I was given that evening. :-) In almost every single photo of the boys together, Gavin is playing with the baby’s toes. It absolutely slays me. So amazingly sweet.

The Happy Traveler | Almost 10

These beautiful girlies belong to my good friend, Carrie Sandoval. Twins, almost 10 years old – They could not be more different but could also not be more lovely in their own unique ways.

The Happy Traveler | The Jackson 3

My friend, Carrie, with her girls.

These three adorable kiddos are the nieces and nephew of my good friend, Carrie Sandoval (who can be seen in the last photo on this post with her three girlies). I took these photos the day before I left California to head back home to Atlanta. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much out of two almost 4 year olds and an almost 2 year old but they totally surprised me! They are such fun, amazing kids and gave me the perfect going away present. :)

Thanks guys!
